Semi-daily cute

Two videos today because they’re both so good and because I haven’t posted in a few days.

^ Listen to how this golden retriever imitates a siren. I think he should get a job with an EMT crew.

^ Cat plays in snow for the first time.

A video post

Featuring vampires.

First we have the international trailer for Only Lovers Left Alive, the vampire movie from Jim Jarmusch starring Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton. It’s been a hit at film festivals. I believe this is being released in February in the UK and April in the U.S. (whyy do we have to wait so long? I guess I should be happy it got a distributor at all, though).

Next we have the teaser trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain, a tv show coming this summer on FX. The show is based on the book of the same name that GDT co-wrote with Chuck Hogan. The story is about a virus that turns people into ravenous vampires. But these aren’t the subdued, romanticized vampires that have become commonplace these days, these are more monstrous (think I Am Legend). I will see anything with Del Toro’s name on it, personally. This is the first teaser trailer, so not much happens.

Lastly we have an ‘on the set’ featurette from season 4 of Game of Thrones. We get glimpses of the characters and actors. I wish this was longer personally but I know they want to keep a lot of it under wraps.

^ interesting 1860’s style portraits done at Sundance: Mark Ruffalo (esquire)

-And speaking of Mark Ruffalo, he had this to say about the script for Avengers 2:

I would say that it’s better, it’s cooler, it’s more awesomer. It’s a little bit darker, but also really has Joss Whedon’s incredibly, witty and sly sense of humor.

He also talks about a standalone Hulk movie here (io9)

Peter Pan will  be NBC’s next live musical (ohnotheydidnt)

Jason Isaacs cast in the Rosemary’s Baby tv show (yess I enjoy him) (io9)

Game of Thrones season 4 trailer

“There’s only one hell: the one we live in now.” Featuring Jamie’s new short hair, Tyrion, Joffrey being typical, and shadows of dragons. Not as good as previous years’ trailers, namely season 2. A lot of people fighting, of course. Not enough Arya Stark, if you ask me.

Chris Hemsworth will announce the Oscar nominations (the hollywood reporter)

First look at the new Marvel one shot short film featuring Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery (from Iron Man 3). I know a lot of people are disappointed because this is going to be on the Thor: The Dark World DVD and the title is “All Hail The King,” so it was thought that it was probably about Loki with the way The Dark World ended. (entertainment weekly)

^First image from Outlander, a “time-travel romance novel” tv series that will air on Starz. There is an interview with showrunner Ron Moore at that link also. (entertainment weekly)

First images from WGN’s upcoming series Salem (entertainment weekly)

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has surpassed Iron Man 3 to be 2013’s highest grossing movie (I feel it’s better than Iron Man 3, so that’s good I guess) (Variety)

Game of Thrones S4 teasers

Finally some season 4 stuff! HBO has released the above teaser and 5 vines from the S4 trailer. We got an air date for season 4 yesterday: April 6th. The full S4 trailer will premiere Sunday right before the new show True Detective airs at 9:00 pm. If you’re unfamiliar with vines, they’re little looping 6 second videos, like an animated gif with sound. Since you can’t embed vines, someone has thankfully changed them into youtube video format. It’s not the best quality but here they are:

^ shot of Daenerys

^ I’m not real sure what this is actually. Some fighting.

^ Jon Snow fighting.

^ Tyrion in handcuffs

^ our first look at new character Oberyn Martell

That’s all for now. I’ll post the trailer as soon as it’s available on Sunday.
